Can the Bible be trusted?

1. Historically Reliable

The Bible isn’t a book that appeared out of nowhere. It’s a collection of 66 books written over 1,500 years by more than 40 different authors—from kings and prophets to fishermen and doctors—yet all telling one unified story: God’s redemption of mankind.

Historians often affirm its credibility:

Manuscript evidence: There are over 5,000 ancient Greek manuscripts of the New Testament—far more than any other ancient text.

Archaeological support: Countless discoveries (e.g., the Dead Sea Scrolls, ruins of Jericho, King David’s palace) continue to affirm the Bible’s historical accuracy.

2. Prophetically Accurate

“I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning.”
— Isaiah 46:9–10

The Bible contains hundreds of prophecies—many fulfilled in precise detail:

The birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus were prophesied centuries before He came (see Isaiah 53, Micah 5:2, Psalm 22).

Prophecies about nations (like Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome) came to pass exactly as foretold.

No other spiritual book matches this kind of fulfilled prophecy.

3. Spiritually Transforming

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword…”
— Hebrews 4:12

Countless lives have been changed by reading the Bible. From drug addicts finding freedom to broken families being restored—its impact is undeniable. It’s not just words on paper; it’s alive with power to transform hearts.

4. Jesus Trusted It

Jesus Himself quoted the Old Testament regularly, affirming its truth. In Matthew 5:18 He said:

“For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter… will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”

If Jesus—who rose from the dead—trusted Scripture, that’s a strong reason we (His followers) can too.

5. It Stands the Test of Time

People have tried to destroy, ban, and discredit the Bible for centuries, yet it remains the most-read, most-translated, most-published book in history. That’s not by chance—that’s divine preservation.

Conclusion:

Yes, the Bible can be trusted—historically, prophetically, spiritually, and eternally. It’s not just a book about God—it’s the very voice of God, reaching into every generation with truth and grace.

If you’re still on the fence, I encourage you: don’t just read about the Bible—read the Bible. Start in the Gospels. Let the words speak to your soul.
