Key Notes:
1. Live a life of integrity and moral principles.
2. Wealth without righteousness will eventually lead to trouble.
3. Choose righteousness even if it means having little.
Think of the follow:
1. What are my priorities in life?
2. Why will compromising my values for material gain?
3. How can I apply righteousness and integrity in my daily life?
4. Of what benefit is it to acquire plenty and lose it All?
NOW LET’S STRIKE A BALANCE
Wealth itself is not inherently evil:
1. Father Abraham, Job, and Solomon were wealthy and righteous (Genesis 13:2, Job 1:3, 1 Kings 10:23).
2. Wealth is a blessing from God established by a covenant (agreement) between you and God (Deuteronomy 8:18, Proverbs 10:22).
It is how you get and what you use your wealth for that makes it good, likewise makes it evil.
Righteousness should come first:
1. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
2. Love of money can lead you to do evil (1 Timothy 6:10).
3. Wealth without righteousness is meaningless (Proverbs 16:8).
Balancing righteousness and wealth:
1. Be generous and give to those in need (Proverbs 19:17, Matthew 25:31-46).
2. Use wealth to further God’s kingdom (1 Chronicles 29:1-5).
3. Avoid excessive love of wealth (1 John 2:15-17).
4. Store up treasures in heaven, not just on earth (Matthew 6:19-21).
5. Cultivate contentment and gratitude (1 Timothy 6:6-8, Philippians 4:11-13).
Key verses:
- “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
- “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment” (1 Timothy 6:17).
By prioritizing righteousness and using wealth responsibly, you can strike a biblical balance between the two.
Let’s Pray:
“Lord, help me prioritize righteousness and integrity in all aspects of my life. May my character be more valuable to me than material wealth.”
