THE CHRISTIAN AND MUSIC

It is good we know that, the attention of music is beyond entertainment and soulful gratification. It is something that creates a balanced connection between two entities- the natural man and the spiritual forces. Man is a spirit being who must maintain some level of connection with his maker/creator.  While others connect themselves to the spirit of the world (Satan) through demonically influenced sounds (music), the Christian must seek out a way to maintain a sound frequency with the Lord.

Though the Christian is instructed to always pray and study God’s word-the Bible, as a way to sustaining God’s presence (Lk18:1,2Tim2:15), there are cases in our lives where we may also have to build a deep connection with God through music. Psalms 66:8 “O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:”

By Christian music, we mean that “the song must be written in agreement to the revelations of the WORD of GOD that is, telling of who God is, what he has done, what he will do, what he is doing and announcing his promises towards us.”

Through music we can;
1. relate our emotions and pour out our pains to God.     Psalms 18:6 “In my Psalms 66:4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.”
2. tell of God’s faithfulness over our lives.
3. Remember God’s promises to us and our families.
4. Receive the Holyghost anointing to face satanic challenges and opposition.

Some other examples in scriptures
1. Paul and Silas in Act16:25 found themselves in a dead situation, but they didn’t focus on the situation, instead they glorified God by sing to is name. This is something every Christian should emulate, because, there will always be challenges on earth.
2. Jesus in Matthew26:30 sang an hymn with his disciples before he went to mount olives where he will be betrayed. This hymn was a form of processional song for the pain and necessary evil he was to suffer for mankind.
3. Moses and the children of Israel (in Exodus15) after crossing the Red Sea, took out to sing praises to God for the victory that was given to them.
Whenever we get a victory, we are supposed to praise God for that.

Conclusively, we should all learn to glorify God daily for all He does for us. It is God’s right to receive our songs of worship. Psalms 66:4 “All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.”
