Being a child is a lovely thing, and having one is beautiful. It reminds us of the innocence of man at the beginning of time. But one sad reality is that no matter how much you love your child, you wouldn’t want him/her to REMAIN a baby. It will be your desire that your child grows up and start taking responsibilities in life by engaging in the adventurous experience of life. This is where being a baby becomes a CRIME.
Society will not become progressive if babies don’t grow up. There will be no government, innovations, scientific breakthroughs nor marriages and families.
By scriptural context, God (our Father) does not want us to be a child in any way. God expects maturity from us.
The areas of the Christian maturity includes;
1. He wants us to be mature in our faith towards Him. (Luke12:28)
2. He wants us to be mature in love and character towards Him and all men. (Luke10:27)
3. He wants us to be mature in authority against the wicked one (the devil and his cohorts). (Luke10:19)
4. He wants us to be mature in wisdom to face live’s challenges. (James1:5)
5. He wants us to be mature in social communication (being able to witness the gospel to other) (Mark16:15)
6. He wants us to be mature in our businesses and finances. Being able to know what to eat and what to sow for more increase. (2Corinthian9:10)
7. He wants us to be mature in diligence towards His house (the church), by ensuring we serve Him in His temple. (Proverb12:24)
8. He wants us to be mature in the expression of our emotions, that is, be responsive and not reactive.
9. He wants us to be mature in our sensitivity to the voice of his Spirit who give directions and helps us make this right decisions. (Isaiah30:21)
A Christian therefore must seek maturity.
How do we seek maturity?
1. PRAYER and FASTING (In this kingdom, you cannot get what you don’t see and desire.)
2. READ YOUR BIBLE ALWAYS (Through the Bible we come to know the mind of God by how he related to those before us and what He has said so far for our good). 1Tim4:13
3. Listening to the voice of the HolySpirit. 1Tim4:1
4. BE HUMBLE. For us to attain this kind of maturity, we need to be HUMBLE before Him. We need to totally submit to JESUS’ feet. We need to let Him control our lives. I believe this is where true Christian salvation starts from. 1Pet5:5-6
Note: Many (if not all) of the problems we go through in life are simply due to our lack of maturity. This is why God expects us to always ASK. If you realize that you need it then ask !!
Because there is a great work that needs to be done for the God’s kingdom (most especially in this END-TIME), it is my prayer for you that you grow tall and useful so the master will be able to use you, in Jesus name.
